McGoldrick ruled out of Austria game

David McGoldrick has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup Qualifier against Austria on Sunday.

The 29 year old underwent a scan on his knee earlier today and the player sat out this morning’s training session, as a precaution, at the FAI National Training Centre.

The Ipswich Town striker has now left the camp however, and will be unavailable for selection for Sunday’s game.

McGoldrick had just earned his sixth cap for the Boys in Green when he played 90 minutes in the 3-1 friendly loss to Mexico in New York last Thursday.

Martin O’Neill’s squad return to training tomorrow morning at the Aviva Stadium in anticipation of the looming World Cup Qualifier.

Kick-off for the match against Austria is at 5pm on Sunday June 11.
