Celtic recall Eoghan O'Connell from Cork

Eoghan O’Connell’s time on Leeside has come to a pre-mature end after he was re-called to Celtic after sustaining a groin injury.

O’Connell represented his home town team a total of five times, scoring once in a 2-2 draw with Galway United.

John Caulfield confirmed the news following Cork's 2-0 win against Shamrock Rovers on Monday.

“Eoghan went back to Glasgow earlier today after Celtic pulled the plug on his loan deal. They have recalled him and he’s their player so we have to accept the decision. They were unhappy with his groin injury and we had no call on that and it’s hard to know if we will get him back at all,” said the Roscommon man.

This is not the first time Eoghan has gone back to his parent club early, his time at League One side Oldham Athletic in 2015, with his loan spell only lasting two months
