Noonan wins Continental Tyres Women's National League Player of the Month Award

Saoirse Noonan has won the Continental Tyres Women's National League Player of the Month award for November/December.

The Cork City WFC has netted two goals in her debut season in the League and excelled with Niall O'Regan's side, who take on Wexford Youths WFC in the Continental WNL Cup on Sunday.

"It was completely unexpected to win this award and this is a great honour," admitted Noonan.

"This is only my first year in the Women's National League and I'm still young, but I suppose getting this award shows that hard work does pay off.

"I wouldn't have won this without my team-mates at Cork though; they have been outstanding this season. We clicked as a group straight away and we all push each other on."

Noonan, who is captain of the Republic of Ireland Women's Under 17s, continues to improve as a player and she credits the League with that development as it consistently challenges her.

"Every game in the League is a brand new competition and a brand new level to adapt to because it is so competitive," said Noonan.

"There was a big break over the Christmas period, but we got back to winning ways against Kilkenny last week and we want to kick on again. My main focus is on playing games and helping the team as much as I can."
