Roddy Collins appointed Derry City manager

Derry City have confirmed the appointment of Roddy Collins as the club's manager.

Collins, who achieved promotion from the First Division with Athlone Town last season, has joined the Candystripes along with former Derry City captain and Finn Harps manager, Peter Hutton, who will act as assistant manager at the Brandywell.

Collins replaces Declan Devine, who left the club at the end of last season despite guiding the side to FAI Cup glory, as well as European football two seasons in a row.

Former Bohemians, Cork City and Carlisle United boss Collins was interviewed for the job by the Board of Directors in Donegal on Friday. It is believed that he was favoured to former St Mirren boss Gus McPherson, for the position.
