Trap names 23 man squad

Giovanni Trapattoni has finalised his 23 man squad for Ireland’s crucial World Cup Qualifiers against Sweden at The Aviva next Friday September 6 and the squads trip to Vienna the following Tuesday.

 

Republic of Ireland squad: Forde (Millwall), Westwood (Sunderland), Randolph (Birmingham City), O’Shea (Sunderland), Wilson (Stoke City), Coleman (Everton), Kelly (Reading), O’Dea (Metalurh Donetsk), Clark (Aston Villa), Dunne (QPR), McShane (Hull City), Whelan (Stoke City), McCarthy (Wigan Athletic), Green (Leeds United), Pilkington (Norwich City), McClean (Wigan athletic), Brady (Hull City), Hoolahan (Norwich City), Long (West Brom), Keane (LA Galaxy), Sammon (Derby County), Walters (Stoke City), Cox (Nottingham Forest).

 

Former Cork City midfielder David Meyler has been placed on standby and has been notified by the manager. Another former League of Ireland player Paddy Madden has been ruled out with a knee injury.


West Ham United full back Joey O’Brien has been granted permission to receive treatment on a knee injury sustained two years ago during the International break. The Dubliner may still turn out for his club tomorrow as they face Stoke City in London.
