Wexford will be looking to get their season back up and running when they host Cobh Ramblers at Ferrycarrig Park on Friday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

James Keddy’s side were all set to take on Longford Town last Friday night but the game had to be postponed due to inclement weather and a waterlogged pitch.

They play their second game of the season on Friday night and they will be looking for an improved outcome having been beaten 3-0 by Athlone at Lissywollen on the opening day of the season.

In team news, Wexford will be without Cian O’Malley who missed a good chunk of pre-season through injury. Aaron Dobbs missed out on the Athlone game but could feature on Friday night, and loan signing Sean McHale goes straight into the squad having signed from St Patrick’s Athletic.

Ramblers will be looking for their first win of the season on Friday night having taken just one point from their opening two games.

They opened their campaign with a 3-1 defeat in a Munster Derby against Treaty United and last week they drew 3-3 with Athlone Town.

While it may not have been the result they wanted, manager Gary Hunt will have been pleased by the grit and determination his side showed to secure a valuable point.

Athlone had taken a two goal lead which was halved by Nolan Evers in the 52nd minute, Aaron Connolly then scored to reinstate that lead only for Dale Holland and David Bosnjak to score to give a share of the points.

Referee: Daryl Carolan

The side met six times last year, including the playoffs and there was very little between them. In the league both side secured a win each and they drew the other two fixtures and in the playoffs Ramblers came out on top over two legs by two goals to one.
