Manchester United's Argentine defender, Lisandro Martinez, faces an eight-week layoff after injuring his medial collateral ligament.

The injury occurred during the club's 3-0 victory over West Ham United at Old Trafford.

Martinez, who had to leave the pitch in the 71st minute on Sunday, has already missed a significant portion of the season.

Martinez has made eight appearances for United this season, having been sidelined for three months with a foot injury.

This is not the first time the defender has faced a long-term absence.

Last season, he was out for a considerable period due to a metatarsal injury.

Since joining United in July 2022 from Ajax, Martinez has made 35 appearances for the Red Devils, finding the back of the net once.
