Austin’s Biography
Austin began his career at Bohemians, graduating from the reserves to Billy Young's senior side in August 1976, and he spent six seasons at Dalymount Park before moving across the river to sign for St Patrick's Athletic in the Summer of 1982.
After five seasons with the Saints, Austin moved on again, joining Athlone Town in August 1987 and spending a further three seasons with the Midlands club.
In the Summer of 1990 Austin left Athlone to sign for Drogheda United where he played for just one season, and in 1991 he joined Monaghan United where he also played for one season.
In the Summer of 1992 Austin left Monaghan to return to Dublin where he signed for St James's Gate, for what was intended to be his final season of League of Ireland football as a player. He became assistant manager at Kilkenny City ahead of the 1993/94 season and made occasional appearances on their bench when injuries dictated.
