Cathal’s Biography
Cathal was a striker who started his League of Ireland career at Drogheda United in 1971. He spent seven seasons at United Park and then moved to their County Louth rivals, Dundalk, in 1978.
He won the League and Cup double in his first season at Oriel Park but stayed for just two seasons before buying out his own contract for £2,000 so he could leave Dundalk in September 1980. Shortly afterwards he joined Shamrock Rovers and debuted for them against Drogheda United on 21 September.
On 14 March 1981 Cathal left the Hoops to sign for Shelbourne where he played out the remainder of the 80/81 season. In October of '81 he was on the move again, this time signing for Athlone Town where he spent the last season of his playing career.
