MATCH INFO
Competition: 2022 League of Ireland Premier Division
Date: 7:45 p.m. Feb. 28, 2022
Venue: The UCD Bowl
Referee: Alan Patchell
Attendance: 925
Full here time at The Bowl, not a classic match by any stretch of the imagination. Ends in a stalemate in a match filled to the brim with stoppages but that is all for me. Thanks so much for tuning in, goodbye and take care!
FULL TIME!
Yellow Card
Few more minutes here due to a good few stoppages.
Great chance for Whelan but he cannot dig the ball out from his feet.
Yellow Card
Complete accident but Sean Brennan came off much worse. He's getting up and moving which is great. He has had a quality game tonight.
8 minutes of added time but there is a stoppage due to a nasty clash of heads between Sean Brennan and Conor Kane.
Shels all piling forward. Look much hungrier than they have all match.
Substitution
Duffy has a go from far out. Goal kick to Shels.
Sprinklers off and play is resumed at The Bowl. 8 minutes of stoppage from that.
Christ on a bike, more sprinklers going off.
UCD staff using a wheelbarrow to stop the sprinkler. Needless to say it didn't work. Oh my days. This is tragic and hysterical.
Both teams leaving the pitch. Sprinkler still going.
Duff is fuming. A far cry from your Chelsea days Damien!
Sprinkler still going. Bit embrassing.
A sprinkler turns on at The Bowl and the game is stopped, UCD bench getting drenched.
Good build up play from UCD but Webb comes off his line and smothers the ball.
A lovely ball from Kerrigan falls to Duffy but the bounce is unkind and leads to nothing.
The corner routine is shocking from Shels and the ball goes out for a goal kick to UCD.
Shels work the left side and the ball goes out for a corner.
A host of subs for both sides in an attempt to break the deadlock.

Substitution
Brian McManus looks more concered with hacking UCD players down. How he hasn't recieved a second yellow I do not know.
Conor Kane cuts inside onto his right but the shot has barley any power to it and that is bred and butter for Healy
Deep corner by UCD which is met by Keaney but it goes over the bar.
Corner Kick
11 minutes gone and UCD look the more threatening side.
Keaney beats the wall but it is just over the bar. Good effort
Free kick for UCD on the outside of the Shels box. This is certainly goal scoring distance. This will be taken by Jack Keaney
Yellow Card
Grim tackle by Aaron O'Driscoll. He is a very lucky man to still be on the pitch. Keaney and Ross WIlson get booked for the afters.
Yellow Card
Yellow Card
SECOND HALF
No subs for the second half.
Both sides coming back on to the pitch. Roll on the second half.
Certainly not a classic match at The Bowl, both sides looking sloppy, scrappy and struggling to put a cohesive attack together. This marks 225 minutes of football without a goal for UCD
HALF TIME
Yellow Card
Kerrigan get rugby tackled McManus and enters the referee's book.
Shels corner is cleared away by former Finn Harps player Sam Todd.
Corner Kick
Good effort from Jack Moylan who runs into the UCD box but sends it over the bar.
The match has turned a bit sloppy and scrappy in the last few minutes.
Yellow Card
Shels take a short corner but nothing comes from it.
Loose ball knocks off a UCD player. First corner of that match.
Liam Kerrigan drives from his own half and his shot is just wide. Kerrigan looking like the sharpest player in this match.
Shelbourne looking very physical and orgainised in defence. UCD struggling to break down the visting side.
Neither side really asserting themselves on the match but a few good flashes from UCD.
McEneff's knee looked like it was troubling him a touch and he is briskly replaced.
Substitution
UCD first shot on taget by Mark Dignam. A low and bobbling shot on the Bowl pitch but Webb makes it look like light work
Great attack by UCD and Mark Coyle takes down Sean Brennan in the box. Looks like a stonewall penalty in my book. Very clear that Coyle pushed Brennan but the ref waves it off.
Mark Coyle folds Mark Dignam from behind. Lucky to not be a yellow.
UCD are sending long balls from defence to target man Colm Whelan. Not much change from it so far but very different compared to how they normally attack by creating overloads on the wings.
A good amount of travelling Shels fans here at The Bowl and they are making a good bit of noise.
A long range effort from Brian McManus goes into row z. The filed goal is good!
Great drive from Jack Moylan into the box but UCD swarm him and clear their lines. Shels begining to get into a groove here at The Bowl.
UCD and Shels both instigating a very high press with both sides cautiously playing it out from the back.
Both sides just feeling each other out with a bit of head tennis taking place.
GAME ON!
The sides are coming onto the pitch now. Kick off fast approaching!
5 minutes till kick off!
UCD also make three changes to their side who drew to Finn Harps at home with Evan Osam, Adam Verdon and Mark Dignam starting tonight.
Shels make three changes to the side that claimed vicotry over Drogheda with Brian McMnanus, Jordan McEneff and Sean Boyd all coming into the side.
UCD come off a stalemate versus Finn Harps last Friday while Damian Duff's Shels registered their first win of the seaon in a 3-0 win over Drogheda at Head in the Game Park in the last round of fixtures.
The last time these two sides met was last season in the First Divsion. The match was 1-1 draw with a equaliser from Evan Caffrey who is on the bench tonight for UCD. On that particular night, Shels were crowned First Division champions at Tolka Park.
