David’s Biography

Originally from Athlone, David joined Athlone Town in 2006 from local side St Joseph's. In 2008 he signed for Mervue United and quickly established himself as an integral part of the team, either at right back or in midfield. He was also captain of the Mervue U20 side that reached the semi-finals of the league in 2009 before going out to Bohemians.

David made 12 appearances for Mervue in 2009, their debut season of League of Ireland football but was released prior to the 2010 season by new manager Tom French. In February 2011, with former manager Johnny Glynn back in charge at Mervue, David re-signed for the club and came on as a 64th minute substitute against Salthill Devon on the opening night of the 2011 season.

He made 20 league appearances in 2011 and scored once, in a 5-0 win over Salthill Devon on 13 August. David emigrated to Australia at the end of the 2011 season.
