Owen’s Biography
Owen played football in his native South Africa before moving to Europe where he joined Belgian club, Beerschot in 1985. He soon went on loan to Derry City and played for the Candystripes in their first LOI season, 1985/86, scoring twice on his debut in a 3-0 win over Cobh Ramblers on 8 December '85.
He signed a permanent deal at Derry for 1986/87 and left Derry in 1988. After a move to Spanish club Figures fell through, he returned to South Africa where he played for Leeds United (Durban), Moroka Swallows and Dynamos FC.
He went on to be a manager at Dynamos, Silver Stars, Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars.
