Home Farm are one of Ireland's best known amateur clubs with a long tradition of producing quality footballers through their underage system. The club first competed in the League of Ireland in 1972/73, having merged with League side Drumcondra. They competed as Home Farm-Drumcondra in that first season, but from 1973/74 they reverted to their original name, Home Farm.

In 1995 the club formalised a connection with English side Everton and played for four years under the title Home Farm Everton. In 1999, Home Farm reverted to Junior status while an off-shoot, Home Farm Fingal continued in the LoI, changing their name to Dublin City before folding in 2006.
