Lincoln City were founded in 1884 and play their home games at Sincil Bank. They were founder members of the English Second Division in 1982 and remained in the league but dipped in and out of the Football League until 1921 when they were founder members of the Third Division (North).
Lincoln remained in the League until the end of 1986/87 when they became the first club to be automatically relegated to the Football Conference. They bounced straight back the following season but were again demoted to the National League at the end of 2010/11.
