Mick 'Boxer'’s Biography

Mick ‘Boxer’ Foley played with Shelbourne before signing for Leeds City in the summer of 1910. He soon became a regular in the Leeds side at Left Half and missed just 2 games in 1912/13. The following year, in the final season before the outbreak of World War I, he was an ever-present in the Leeds side. He remained with Leeds in the early years of the war and was again part of the club’s league side on the resumption of official league football in 1918/19. But Leeds were wound up in October 1919 and Mick returned to Ireland to rejoin Shelbourne where he was a member of the team that were founder members of the League of Ireland in 1921.
