Live Updates for Dundalk -v- Rapid Wien

Updates by

93'

Duffy pulls the ball back for Oduwa who looks a cert to score from ten yards out, and he fluffs it over. Nervy finish for Wien. Oduwa just hasn't calibrated his shooting boots tonight.

90' + 3'

FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Dundalk and Rapid Wien.

90' + 1'

Oduwa lets a looping ball come over his shoulder and hits it on the half volly, but he can't direct it on target.

90'

Gary Rogers almost caught in possession by the onrusing Kitagawa. They haven't given the Lilywhites much time to dwell on the ball in defensive positions all night.

Three minutes of additional time.

85'

Sean Murray plays a clever ball out wide for Dan Kelly to bear down on; he makes inroads into the box and his cross/shot takes a deflection and forces Gartler to make a near post save.

82'

Yellow Card

Daniel Cleary (Dundalk) is booked.

81'

Substitution

Yusef Demir (in) - Christoph Knasmullner (out) (Rapid Wien).

81'

Substitution

Darragh Leahy (in) - Cameron Dummigan (out) (Dundalk).

81'

Patrick McEleney gets the ball as Duffy pokes it past his man and shoots from distance, well over. A cross might have been a better option with Oduwa in the box. I haven't been convinced with the goalkeeper under the ball tonight either.

77'

Great save from Gary Rogers. Sean Gannon [sic may have been Dummigan] slides in to block a shot but it falls to Kohya Kitagawa just yards out, his reflex shot is met with an important reflex save from the custodian.

74'

Kelvin Arase falls on his...ahem...after a tackle from Sean Gannon and he stays down.

A bit of time wasting creeping in.

As I type that, Christoph Knausmillner is struck with a mystery affliction that takes a few minutes to get over and then Srdjan Grahovac opts to tie his shoelaces before he takes a free'.

72'

Substitution

Sean Murray (in) - Greg Sloggett (out) (Dundalk).

70'

Bit of a lull in play here. The Austrian side won't mind that too much. They want to settle things a bit after giving away two penalties.

66'

Substitution

Koya Kitagawa (in) - Ercan Kara (out) (Rapid Wien).

66'

Substitution

Lion Schuster (in) - Taxiarchis Fountas (out) (Rapid Wien).

63'

PENALTY SCORED!

Chris Shields (Dundalk) scores from the penalty spot. Dundalk's second penalty of the game. Well hit, some might say he should have hit the first one? Some.

58'

GOAL!

Ercan Kara (Rapid Wien) scores.

Ouch, that's got to hurt. In a few minutes Dundalk have gone from having a life line to needing a life ring.

55'

There's a sense of deflation after that penalty miss and Rapid Wien have filled been only too willing to step onto the front foot.

55'

Substitution

Kelvin Arase (in) - Melih Ibrahimoglu (out) (Rapid Wien).

49'

MISSED PENO!

Nathan Oduwa (Dundalk) misses from the penalty spot.

He's had an instant impact, he came close with a header just moments ago but that was a poor penalty, missed the target.

A real chance to get straight back into this game goes amiss.

47'

Triple sub from Dundalk at the start of this half: Hoare, Colovic and McMillian off for Kelly, Oduwa and McEleney.

Oduwa gets on the end of a Kelly cross in the box and it's over, but good start from them.

46'

Substitution

Nathan Oduwa (in) - David McMillan (out) (Dundalk).

46'

Substitution

Daniel Kelly (in) - Sean Hoare (out) (Dundalk).

46'

Substitution

Patrick McEleney (in) - Stefan Colovic (out) (Dundalk).

46'

SECOND HALF

The second half between Dundalk and Rapid Wien has started.

45'

HALF TIME

It is half-time between Dundalk and Rapid Wien.

45'

HALF TIME

It is half-time between Dundalk and Rapid Wien.

45'

Ullmann takes a free kick delivery down well in the box and flashes his shot hight and wide.

42'

Dundalk work it into the opposition box again but can't fashion a shot to test the 'keeper.

39'

Hoare whippes a cross into the box and Colovic can only get the back of his head on it, not enough direction to get it goalward. It drops wide and left of the net.

37'

GOAL!

Ercan Kara (Rapid Wien) scores.

That move came on the back of Filip Stojkovic looking like he ran the ball over the line without the linesman flagging it. But there was still ample time to prevent it: Thorsten Schick got his cross into the box away too easily, and Kara has headed without challenge between two centre backs.

35'

The Irish side work the ball well through Shields, then Hoare and then Cleary has the ball at the edge of the box, in shooting territory, but he plays a through ball to an unsuspecting Hoare and it peters out.

32'

It's been a good spell for the visitors. Fountas looks particularly menacing, Dundlak have to stop him getting too many chances.

29'

A skyward clearance from Gary Rogers causes bother as Cleary tussles for possession, he heads it back itowards the box and in the panic Rapid Wien get a free-kick. Maximilian Hofmann strikes it well and Gary Rogers reacts well to save beause it took a deflection off the wall.

24'

A poor clearance from Grahovac richochets into Colovic's path for Dundalk, who has Shields ahead of him. But he delays the pass too long and Shields is offside by the time it comes his way.

19'

Micheal Duffy drills a shot at goal after the ball spills to him from a headed clearance from the box, but Paul Gartler gets down and holds onto it.

18'

Cameron Dummigan floats a ball in behind the Hofmann and McMillian races to get something on it to trouble the scrambling 'keeper, but he's just a little late off the mark. That was a good ball.

18'

Taxiarchis Fountas picks up the ball in a dangerous position with only a defender between him and the goal, he takes a quick side step and tries another powerful shot from distance, and Rogers' pushes it away, but not out. The ball only leaves the danger zone when Fountas gets back on it and misplaces a pass way into midfield.

16'

A cross into the box is unconvincingly punched clear by Paul Gartler in goal and Dundalk have a corner. Dundalk will have to test him out.

11'

GOAL!

Christoph Knasmullner (Rapid Wien) scores. Double error from Sean Hoare in the build up to that. He gives away posession in his own half, but recovers to win it back, then a sloppy pass gives Rapid possession once more and they score from it.

Disappointing given Dundalk had started so well.

8'

Yellow Card

Sdrjan Grahovac (Rapid Wien) is booked. His clumsy challenge on Chris Shields earns him the first yellow of the game.

7'

Taxiarchis Fountas has a shot from outside of the box and it's narrowly wide. Dare I say it; but I think Gary Rogers had it covered.

6'

A ball into the box is well cut out by Shields, he has time but his clearance isn't picked up by a Dundalk shirt. That's something that the Lilywhites were a bit guilty of in Vienna last time out.

5'

Dundalk have had a fair bit of the ball, their one-two moves have broken down at crucial stages mind. Twice in as many minutes, they have put the ball out of play when a final ball could have put a man in for a shot.

3'

Sean Hoare plays a weighted ball through for Sean Gannon down the right, the big Rapid defender, Barac, reads it well and shields the ball out.

1'

Dundalk look to have gone with three at the back, akin to their shape V Bohemains in the cup. Rapid look like they are going to push their forward men up high to chase the ball down deep in Dundalk's half.

1'

GAME ON!

The game between Dundalk and Rapid Wien has kicked off.

0'

A minute's silence to honour the late, great, Diego Maradona, and we're ready to go.

0'

The referee tonight is Tamás Bognár and he's joined by his assistants Balázs Buzás and Balázs Szert, all from Hungary. Here's hoping I'm not reduced to making any allusions to the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the match.

We are 45mins away from kick-off here at the Aviva Stadium: Dundalk take on SK Rapied Wien in their fourth Europa League Group Stage campaign. And the teams are in; plenty of changes from both sides from the last time they faced off.

Rapid have no less then six players unavailable, including influential captain Dejan Ljubicic.

Coach Filippo Giovagnoli (who isn't in the dughout tonight) has elected to start Gary Rogers in nets and gives starts to Cameron Dummigan, Stefan Colovic and David McMillian this time around in place of Aaron McCarey, Darragh Leahy, Jordan Flores and the injured Patrick Hoban.

Ciarán Fisher here, and I'll be taking you through this evening's action. You can follow me on Twitter @CFisherET too.
