All square here at Finn Park. Finn Harps will be disappointed to have not held onto their late lead but McGonigle changed things up when he came on. They go above Waterford on goal difference after their damaging loss to Shamrock Rovers. 

A big blow to Derry's European hopes though. 

Derry almost catch out Harps out from a corner at the other end. They break at pace but are eventually smoothered out.

Penalty to Derry! 

The substitute almost strikes for the opener as the ball is played forward to Jamie McGonigle. He is unable to get it down in time to get an effort off. 

Ciaran Cole does well to escape a booking as he takes down Owolabi as he aims to break free. The fans scream for a penalty as the free comes in but more in hope than expectation 

Ryan Connolly tries to slip a ball through to Owolabi but Cameron McJannet is able to clear it out for a corner. It comes to nothing though and Rainey concedes a foul 

No real changes in terms of the game so far. The rain has started to come down though.

Plenty of endevour but not a lot of clear chances from either side. 

The defender goes into the book for a late challenge on Owolabi. 

Owolabi picks the ball up and flashes a ball across the area. No-one is alive to the possibility though and it is hacked away 

Pinball inside the Derry City area which eventually leads to a shot by Ethan Boyle snapshot. It is goalbound but hits a defender and cleared away. 

A win tonight would obviously be huge for the home side in their bid to drag themselves clear of the play-off spot at the bottom. They are conscious of the fact Waterford are taking on Shamrock Rovers this evening. 

Derry of course have Europe in their sights and aware of St. Pats taking on Sligo 

Good ball in from Ryan Rainey that just misses the onrushing Seymour. He claims that he was held but his protests are in vain. Earlier Barry McNamee combined well with Olowabi before the latter was tackled outside the area. 

Will Seymour plays it long into the direction of Olowabi. He cuts inside but his attempt is blocked away. 

Derry come forward on this occasion and Eoin Toal floats a ball into the box. It evades the forwards amid accusations of holding. Nothing given though 

Ethan Boyle is next to try his luck from outside the area. It is cleared out to him following a corner. His first time volley is punched away by Nathan Gartside and eventually scrambled away. 

It is a sell-out here tonight at Finn Park and the home supporters almost had reason to celebrate in the early stages. A long throw is flicked on to Tunde Olowabi and his effort hits the side netting.
