Manchester United were formed in 1878 as Newton Heath and were first elected to the Football League in 1892. They changed their name to Manchester United in 1902 and have since gone on to become one of the most successful club sides in world football.
The club won their first League title in 1908 and their first FA Cup one year later in 1909. In 1910 they moved to their current home at Old Trafford. In 1968 Manchester United became the first English club to win the European Cup when they defeated Benfica 4-1 at Wembley Stadium.
