Damien’s Biography

Damien Brennan is a central defender who can play at right back. He began playing for Belvedere before being signed by English side Huddersfield Town in 1997.

In the pre-season of 2000/01, he signed for Bohemians but was released before the season started. Instead he signed for Kilkenny City where he played for two seasons before moving to Kildare County, a newly formed club who began life in the First Division of the League of Ireland.

Playing regularly for Kildare Damien made 52 league appearances over his two seasons at Station Road. His performances earned him a transfer to Derry City in 2004 where he played for a further two seasons. In 2006, he joined Dublin City and made 17 league appearances before they went out of business that July, at which point he was snapped up by Longford Town.

Damien played in Longford's 2007 FAI Cup final team but it was a season of financial turmoil and the club were also relegated to the First Division. He joined Shelbourne in December 2007 and made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Dundalk. His first goal came in a 3-1 away win over his former club Kildare County on March 14th 2008.

Brennan made 65 appearances at Shels but left at the end of the 2009 season. In 2010 he moved on to join Alan Mathews at Drogheda United but did not make his debut until May and totaled only two league appearances before being released in July. He returned briefly to Shelbourne but did not appear in the first team and was not retained for 2011.
