The Dublin born winger started his career at Nottingham Forest in 1999 and made 7 first team appearances there. He also had loan spells at Swansea City and Rochdale before signing for Bristol Rovers in 2004.
He made just one league appearance for Rovers, against Northampton Town in January 2005 and was a trialist with St. Johnstone when Stephen Kenny stepped in to sign him for Derry City. He was at the Brandywell for one and a half seasons before a move to Sligo Rovers in late July 2006.
In July 2006 Brian joined Sligo Rovers where he spent the next three and a half years, making 74 league appearances and scored three goals. At the start of the 2010 season he signed for Pete Mahon at St Patrick's Athletic where he made 26 league appearances before being released at the season's end.
Just days before the start of the 2011 campaign Brian joined up with Sean Conner at Galway United and made 13 league appearances before being released in July of that year. Brian went on to play for Malahide United before joining Bluebell United during the 2015/16 season.
