Keith joined UCD in 2008 and made his league debut on 22 August as a substitute in a 2-1 home defeat to Derry City. In 2009 Keith started to appear regularly in the first team and played a key role as the Students lifted the First Division title, making 24 league appearances.

In 2010 Keith made 26 league appearances as UCD returned to the Premier Division, contributing four league goals. But in January of 2011, after three years at Belfield, he moved on, signing for Ian Foster at Dundalk. Keith made his debut for the Lilywhites in a 5-3 Setanta Cup win over Linfield on 14 February and went on to make 33 league appearances that season, scoring three times.

In January 2012 Keith was on the move again, signing for Aaron Callaghan at Bohemians. He made 24 league appearances and scored four league goals, often finding himself playing a holding role in central midfield. Keith's stay at Dalymount lasted just one year and in December 2012 he signed for new manager Stephen Kenny at Dundalk. He appeared in all of Dundalk's opening 17 league fixtures and scored once, in a 2-2 draw with Drogheda, before suffering a serious injury against St Patrick's Athletic on 14 June which ruled him out for the rest of the 2013 season.

At the end of the 2014 season Keith left Dundalk to join Sligo Rovers under new manager Owen Heary. He made 17 league appearances for the club, scoring once in a 3-2 win over Longford Town, but left the Showgrounds at the end of the 2015 season. As the 2016 campaign approached Keith played for Limerick in a pre-season friendly against Longford Town before going on trial with Derry City where he signed up for the 2016 season. Under new boss Kenny Shiels Keith played in 19 of Derry's 33 league matches and scored once, helping the Candystripes to third place and Europa League qualification.

In December 2016 Keith signed for Keith Long at Bohemians. Keith re-signed with Bohs for 2018. In November 2019, Keith re-signed with Bohs. In December 2020, Keith signed a new deal with Bohs for 2021.
