Neal’s Biography

Known as 'Hoggy' at Turners Cross, Neal transferred from Wilton to Cork City in January 2002 and the San Francisco born defender quickly became one of the clubs most consistent players. He played a role in Cork City's League of Ireland title winning campaign of 2005 and was also part of the side that won the FAI Cup in 2007. Neal also found time to complete a Law degree in 2006.

Neal officially retired from League football at the end of the 2009 season but, after a six month spell at local side Douglas Hall, he returned to play for Cork in June of 2010 and made 8 league appearances over the latter half of that season as the club recovered from the turmoil of 2009. The full back went on to make 23 appearances for City in their First Division title winning campaign of 2011, and in the club's first two seasons back in the Premier Division Neal added another 25 league appearances to his career tally.

Neal signed on for another season at Cork City in 2014 as John Caulfield took over the managerial reins at Turner's Cross but his only senior appearance came in an EA Cup tie against Limerick in March 2014. He remained a registered player until the end of the 2014 season but only trained on Sundays, an arrangement which ended when Caulfield declared Sundays a day off. However, in January 2015 Neal was back in the City squad for their pre-season warm up matches.
