Cathal’s Biography

Cathal began his LoI career at Kildare County in 1999. He played there for three years until joining Dublin City in 2002 and spent two years with the Vikings before moving to Shamrock Rovers in 2005. He made his debut for the Hoops on 18 March and made 26 league and cup appearances in his two seasons with the club.

At the start of 2007 Cathal signed for Dundalk where he played for eighteen months, joining Monaghan United in August 2008.He made his debut for the Mons as a late substitute in a 3-1 win away to Longford Town on 30 August and became a key member of the Monaghan midfield over the following two and a half years.

In 2010 Cathal made 27 league appearances and scored four goals as Monaghan made it to the promotion play-off final where they lost over two legs to Bray Wanderers. They also reached the final of the League Cup where they lost 1-0 to Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds. At the end of 2010 Cathal announced that he would be emigrating to Canada and wouldn't be playing LoI football in 2011.
