Paddy’s Biography

Paddy played with local Derry side Foyle Harps before signing for English side Rochdale where he signed professional forms in December 2001. He made 79 league appearances during his three years at Spotland but was told he would be released in January of 2005. He duly returned home to sign for Shamrock Rovers on 18 January '05.

Paddy was an immediate hit at Rovers and scored seven goals in 17 appearances, but finances dictated that Roddy Collins had to sell his star man and he signed for his home town club, Derry City, in July 2005. In 2006 Paddy won FAI and League Cup winner's medals with the Candystripes. He won a second League Cup medal in 2007 but on 19 June 2008 he won a dream move to Scottish giants Celtic.

Paddy's Celtic debut came in a 4-2 win over Hibernian on 25 October 2008 and he went on to spend five seasons at Parkhead before moving south of the border to sign for Barnsley FC in August 2013. He spent one year at Barnsley before a move to Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2014/15 season which included a loan spell at Notts County. In 2015/16 Paddy was on the move again, this time to Luton Town before switching back to Ireland where he signed for Glenavon in July 2016.

In January 2017 Paddy joined Dundalk on trial during their pre-season preparations but he played just one friendly and subsequently signed a permanent deal with Finn Harps on 21 February. Paddy re-signed with Harps ahead of the 2018 season.

In June 2018, it was announced that Paddy would be taking up a Head of Academy role with Derry City in September of that year but would also stay with Finn harps for the remainder of the 2018 season before retiring to concentrate on his new role entirely.
