Bobby’s Biography
Limerick born Bobby started his career at Limerick in 1998 and scored nine goals from 69 appearances in the first two seasons of his League of Ireland career. He then spent eighteen months at Galway United where he netted seven times in 50 appearances before signing for Stephen Kenny at Bohemians in January 2002.
Bobby made his Bohemians debut against Cork City at Turners Cross on 20 January 2002 and the following season he scored the goal that won the 2002/03 League title for the Phibsboro club. In all, Bobby was at Dalymount Park for four years and made 95 league appearances before leaving to join Shelbourne in November 2004.
He played under Pat Fenlon at Shelbourne for two seasons and won his second League title in 2006, after which the club suffered serious financial issues. Bobby left Shels in January 2007 to join Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Premier League, managed at that time by his former boss at Bohemians, Stephen Kenny.
One year later, in January 2008, Bobby returned to the LoI and signed for St Patrick's Athletic where he made 38 league appearances over his two seasons with the club, leaving at the end of 2009 to return to Galway United for the 2010 season.
His stay at Terryland Park was brief, though he made 24 league appearances in the maroon jersey, and in the summer he was released by Galway in order to ease their wage bill. He then moved back to his hometown club, Limerick FC, in July of 2010 where he saw out the year.
In February 2011 Bobby was on trial with Mick Cooke at Monaghan United but, shortly before the season began, he signed another contract at Galway United. He made 33 league appearances under manager Sean Conner, in a year that saw Galway finish bottom of the Premier Division.
In February 2012 Bobby joined newly promoted Monaghan United but the club withdrew from the league on 18 June citing financial pressures. At the start of the 2012/13 winter season Bobby was turning out for LSL side Wayside Celtic and in 2015 he joined St Mochtas, taking part in their 2015 FAI Cup campaign.
