Jonathan’s Biography
John, son of former Shamrock Rovers and Athlone Town favourite Paul Martin, was with UCD in the eircom League since 1997, where he played with younger brother Robbie, before joining Longford Town in 2004. He made 128 league appearances in his three and a half years at Flancare Park and won both a League Cup winner's medal and an FAI Cup winner's medal in his first season.
John signed for Shamrock Rovers, from Longford Town, in July 2007 and made his debut for the Hoops in a 2-0 win against Waterford United on 10 July 2007. He went on to make 17 league appearances over the next year and a half, but at the end of the 2008 season he was forced to retire due to injury.
John went on to manage Leinster Senior League side Leixlip United when his playing days were over.
