Garbhan’s Biography

Originally from Limerick, Garbhan played as a striker for Cork outfit Ballincollig until he was signed by Limerick FC for the 2009 season. However, he was placed on loan with his former side, to gain experience and stay fit.

Coughlan broke into the first team at Limerick in 2010, scoring on his debut away to Longford Town in September. He went on to score twice in 8 league appearances that year and made a further 12 league appearances in 2011 and 7 more in 2012. In February 2013 it was announced that Garbhan would join Athlone Town on loan.

He made his Athlone debut against Cobh Ramblers on 23 March 2013 and scored three times in 12 league appearances before returning to Limerick in June. However, his loan was extended and Garbhan returned to Athlone to finish out the 2013 campaign, finishing with 22 appearances in the league and scoring five goals as Athlone won the First Division title. He returned to Limerick for the 2014 season.

Garbhan only made 2 league appearances during the 2014 season for Limerick and in December 2014, he returned to Athlone Town, this time on a permanent basis for the 2015 campaign in the First Division. He went on to score five times in 15 league appearances for the Midlands club before leaving Athlone Town in August 2015 to join Regional United.

Garbhan impressed during his spell with Regional and in January 2016, he returned to Limerick ahead of the 2016 First Division season. Limerick stormed to the First Division title that year and Garbhan weighed in with five goals from 19 league appearances, enough to secure a contract with Martin Russell's side for 2017.
