Previously with St Kevin's Boys, Michael joined UCD in December of 2007 on a football scholarship and was first involved with the first team as an unused sub in a League Cup defeat to Wexford Youths on 1 July 2008. He was a member of the UCD squad that won the First Division title in 2009 and he made 3 league appearances for the Students in 2010.

After a spell in Australia, Michael returned to UCD in January 2013. Unfortunately, injuries prevented him making an appearence early on. He played his first game of the season, coming off the bench against Bohemians on 2 August and started the next game against Derry City, making a total of 6 league appearances by the season's end.

Michael joined the new Shamrock Rovers B team in February 2014. In 2014/15 Michael joined Junior side Killester United and was part of their 2015 FAI Cup team. He went on trial with Shelbourne in July 2016 and joined the First Division club later that month.

Michael left Shelbourne at the end of the 2016 season and rejoined LSL side Killester United.
