Garreth’s Biography

Garreth played underage football with Belvedere boys and played with Bohemians reserve's side before joining Shamrock Rovers where he made his league debut against Derry City on 14 March 1999. He made 8 appearances for the Hoops in 1998/99 before returning to Bohemians the following year.

He was part of Bohs' FAI Cup final team in 1999/00 and made 22 league appearances for the club before leaving in the summer 0f 2000 to sign for English club AFC Bournemouth. He spent five seasons at Dean Court and made 168 league appearances in his time there, scoring 24 league goals.

In May of 2005 Garreth signed for Burnley and started out as a first team regular at Turf Moor, but in his second season at the club he fell out of favour. He returned to Bournemouth for a brief loan spell in 2007 but returned to Burnley where he saw out the 2007/08 season before being released by the club.

In October 2008 Garreth joined Luton Town where he made 7 league and cup appearances but he was released by manager Mick Harford in January 2009. At this point Garreth returned to Ireland and had brief trials at Bohemians and Dundalk in the pre-season build up to the 2009 season.

Shortly before the 2009 season began, Garreth signed for St Patrick's Athletic and he made 25 league appearances for the Inchicore club that year, scoring twice. In January 2010 he moved to Drogheda United and made 16 league appearances before re-signing for St Patrick's Athletic in mid July.

Garreth made another 14 league appearances before leaving the club at the end of the 2010 season to travel to Australia where he played for Stirling Lions. In February 2012 Gareth was back from Australia and played briefly with Shelbourne during their pre-season friendlies.

By the start of the 2012 season Garreth had signed for Roddy Collins at Monaghan United and made his debut for the club against Dundalk on 2 March at Gortakeegan. But the club withdrew from the league on 18 June and Garreth was without a club until signing for Bohemians in September 2012. He failed to make a first team appearance in those final months of the season and left Bohs at the end of 2012.

In February 2013, Garreth played in a pre-season friendly for Drogheda United against Longford Town but he didn't sign up for the season and instead pitched up at Shelbourne in June of that year He made just 3 league appearances in a season that saw the Reds relegated at the end of the 2013 season.
