Shane played underage football for Carrigaline United in Cork before heading off to join the Reading FC academy in the summer of 2011. He was included in the first team squad for the 2015/16 season but didn't make an appearance with the first team. He left Reading to return to Ireland and sign for Cork City in February 2017.
Shane re-signed with Cork for the 2019 season. Shane signed with Pats for the 2020 season.
