Niclas’s Biography

Niclas started off at Danish club FC Fyn, making his first appearance in March 2010 during the 2009/2010 season in the Bet25 Liga, the second division in Denmark. He made fifty league appearances for the club over the next three and a half seasons before moving to Odense Boldklub, or OB, in the Superligaen, the top division in Denmark in February 2013.

However, Niclas only made one appearance for OB, which came in the national cup competition, before leaving the club in February 2014 for Icelandic club UMF Stjarnan Gardabaer in the Pepsidelid. He went on to make over thrity appearances for the club, scoring twice, as they won the Icelandic championship on the last day of the season. He also played in the Europa League, as Stjarnan beat Bangor City, Motherwell and Lech Poznan before being knocked out by Inter Milan in the play-offs for the group stages.

2015 was quite different to a successful 2014 as Niclas ended up playing for three different clubs in three different countries. He stayed with Stjarnan for the start of the 2015 season but did not make an appearance before leaving the club in April for Boldkubben Marienlyst in the Divisionen Aufstiegsrunde, a regional league that serves as the third division in Denmark. However, he once again didn't make an appearance for the club before leaving to join Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna in the Superettan in August 2015. He made nine appearances for the club before leaving at the end of the season.

In January 2016, Niclas signed for Derry City and made his debut for the Candystripes in a 2-1 defeat to Finn Harps on the opening weekend of the season. He started 32 of Derry's 33 league games and scored once, in a 2-1 defeat away to Cork City. Niclas left Derry at the end of the 2016 season.

Vemmelund left the Candystripes at the end of the 2016 season and signed for triple league champions Dundalk in January 2017. In December 2017, Niclas opted to return home and join Middelfart in his home country of Denmark, as he turned down offers from Ireland, England, Scotland and the U.S.A.
