Sean played for the Shamrock Rovers U17 side during the 2015 short season and also through 2016. In 2017 he moved up to the Hoops' U19 squad. He also made his first senior competitive appearance in 2017, in a Leinster Senior Cup tie away to Thomastown United on 18 February.
Sean signed his first pro contract with Shamrock Rovers in November 2018 ahead of the 2019 campaign but then went on loan to Wexford in the First Division in February 2019. In June 2019, Sean was recalled by the Hoops after making 15 appearances for Wexford.
