Michael spent some time with Bristol City before returning home to join Dundalk's U19 side in September 2014. He was included in Stephen Kenny's senior side for their 2015 pre-season preparations and later signed a professional deal with the club for the 2015 season. He made his senior debut in an EA Cup tie against Shelbourne on 7 April 2015 and was an unused substitute in the 2015 EA Cup final against Galway United, which the Tribesmen won on penalties. He also played in the 2015 Leinster Senior Cup final when Dundalk beat Shamrock Rovers 3-1.
Michael's league debut came the following season against Bohemians at Dalymount Park on 29 April 2016 and he scored his first league goal in a 5-2 defeat away to St Patrick's Athletic in the second last game of the season. He made 3 league appearances that year and score a total of four goals, three of which came in cup competitions. Michael also appeared in Dundalk's Champions League qualifier against Legia Warsaw.
In January 2017 Michael left Dundalk to sign for Stephen Bradley at Shamrock Rovers.
In January 2018, Michael moved on loan to Finn Harps from Shamrock Rovers.
