Eddie’s Biography

Eddie is a defender who started his career in the youth set-up at Blackburn Rovers and made his senior debut for the club in a UEFA Cup tie against AS Nancy of France. His league debut came when he was on loan at Stockport County and he also had loan spells at Hartlepool and Preston during his time at Blackburn.

In 2009 he signed a permanent deal at Preston where he played for two years, though he again went out on loan, having stints at Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe. He moved to Scunthorpe on a permanent deal in 2011.

In February 2021, Eddie signed on loan with Motherwell and during that Summer he left Crewe to return to Ireland where he signed for Waterford.

Eddie was first called up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad by Giovanni Trapattoni in February 2009 during Ireland's qualification campaign for the 2010 World Cup and he won 3 full international caps.
