Paul returned from a scholarship in the US to sign for Shelbourne in July 2013. He first wore the Shels colours in a friendly against Leeds United at Tolka Park on 29 July and made his senior debut a week later in 1-1 draw away to Bray Wanderers. His first goal for the club came in a 2-2 draw with Drogheda United and he made 8 league appearances that year, scoring twice, before signing for Robbie Horgan at Drogheda United in January 2014.

The defender went on to make 15 league appearances for the Drogs in 2014, scoring once in a 1-1 draw with Bray Wanderers, as they finished ninth in the 2014 Premier Division. In January 2015 Paul was on his way back to Tolka Park, signing for new manager Kevin Doherty. He went on to make eight league appearances for Shelbourne in the First Division as they finished the season in fourth place. He left the club at the end of the season.
