Josh played with Derry City's reserve side in the 2013 Ulster Senior League season and signed a pro deal with Derry City in April 2013, appearing five times for the senior side as an unused substitute during the 2013 Premier Division season. In 2014 Josh broke into Derry's senior side late in the year, making his debut in a 5-0 win over Bray Wanderers in July 2014. He went on to finish the season with 10 league appearances.

In 2015 Josh made a further 9 league appearances as Derry finished seventh in the Premier Division and in 2016 he registered his first league goal during a 2-2 draw with Finn Harps. He made 20 league appearances that year, netting twice during a league season that saw Derry finish third in the Premier Division and qualify for the Europa League. In January 2019, Josh signed for Glenavon on a two and a half year deal.

He has also been a part of Northern Ireland's U19 squad.
