Andy’s Biography

Andy is an Irish international midfielder who started his career at the famous Dublin club Cherry Orchard. From there he joined the youth academy at Nottingham Forrest and signed professional forms in August 1999. He made his debut for the club on 29 November 2000 against Sheffield United and went on to make 144 league appearances, scoring 21 times, in five and a half seasons at the club.

In January 2005 Andy signed for Tottenham Hotspur where he made 26 league appearances, but in August 2006 he moved on, signing for Charlton Athletic, then in the Premier Division. In January 2008 Andy was on the move again, travelling north to join Sunderland where he made 68 league appearances in three seasons before signing for Peter Reid at Blackpool in January 2011.

Andy made just 5 appearances for Blackpool who were relegated from the Premier Division at the end of the 2010/11 season. Andy was released and then re-signed for Nottingham Forrest in July 2011. He retired in July 2016 as the result of long-term injury problems.

In March 2019, Reid was announced as the new manager of the Republic of Ireland under-18s.
