Tralee born Sean is a former Irish Youth international who played for Arsenal before being released in the summer of 2006. He returned to Ireland and signed for Cork City where he spent three seasons, making 25 league appearances for the Rebels.

In February 2009 Sean joined Galway United on loan, signing permanently in July. He made 26 league appearances under manager Ian Foster but left the Tribesmen at the end of that year and signed for Limerick FC in January 2010. Sean made 30 league appearances for Limerick that year, scoring three times, but was released by the club in November 2010.

In February 2011 Sean returned to Galway United, signing a contract at the club in March, just days before the season began. He made 25 appearances in what was a terrible year for Galway and he dropped out of league football at the end of the 2011 season, signing with Limerick side Pike Rovers.
