Mark’s Biography

Born in Galway, Mark began his professional career at Sunderland in 2002 and made his debut for the Black Cats against Arsenal was an exciting prospect at Sunderland, making his senior debut in a 3-2 league Cup win away to Arsenal on 6 November 2002. However, a serious knee injury brought a halt to his promising career and he was released by the club in 2004.

Having been given the all-clear to resume playing, he signed for Sean Connor at Bohemians on a part-time basis in December 2006. He went on to win two league titles with the Phibsboro club in 2008 and 2009 and also won an FAI Cup winner's medal in 2008.

At the end of 2010 Mark's contract at Bohemians ended and he was released by the club with 88 league appearances and seven goals to his name. Then, as the 2011 season approached, he was re-signed by Pat Fenlon and remained at Bohemians for the 2011 season, adding a further 23 league appearances to his career tally.

In January 2012 Mark confirmed a move across Dublin to St Patrick's Athletic. He made his Pats debut in a 1-0 win over Bray Wanderers on the opening night of the season but injuries restricted him to just 3 league appearances and in January 2013 Mark moved on, signing for Stephen Kenny at Dundalk. He enjoyed a momentous year at Oriel Park, making 28 league appearances as the Lilywhites finished second in the 2013 Premier Division, losing out on the league title by three points to his former team-mates at St Pats.

Mark re-signed for the 2014 season and was the vice-captain for the club. However, injuries and the good form of the backline restricted Mark to just six appearances during the season but he did end up on the victorious side this time, with Dundalk lifting the trophy after beating Cork City on the last day of the season. In November 2014, Mark announced he would be leaving Dundalk after two years at the club.

At the end of December, 2014, Mark signed for Tony Cousins at newly promoted Longford Town. He went on to make eighteen league appearances for the Midlands club, scoring once in the 4-2 win over Derry City on the last day of the season, as Longford finished sixth in the Premier Division.

Mark stayed with Longford for the 2016 season and made nine league appearances before leaving the club in July 2016.
