MATCH INFO
Competition: 2022 League of Ireland Premier Division
Date: 7:45 p.m. May 6, 2022
Venue: Head in the Game Park
Referee: John McLoughlin
Attendance: Unknown
Thats it from Patrick O' Connor at the Head in the Game Park, hope you enjoyed the live updates.
Game over in Drogheda, an additional seven minutes were added due to the ' drone ' incident but it really only added to the misery for the home side who were just waiting for the final whistle to blow.
They concede four goals for the second week in a row and were also fairly tootless in attack. It could be a long hard season for Kevin Doherty's side based on this performance and they will struggle to take any positives out of the match.
St Patricks Athletic really bounced back in style following their heavy defeat against Derry City and they will be delighted with their positive response tonight.
FULL TIME!
Despite their donminance and the fact that they have a four goal lead, Pats are pushinh hard for a fifth goal.
Sub Kyle Robinson scores with his first touch, Burns squares the ball after a great run down the right wing and Robisnon is on hand to slot it home, yet another excellent goal by Tim Clancy's side.

Substitution
Corner to Drogheda, once again they are unable to make any use of it and the ball is cleared.

The drone has obviously not affected the visitors, they work the ball to King on the edge of the box, he swivels and drills the ball into the far corner of the net, Long had no chance , another great goal for Pats
GOAL!
The game is back on after multiple conversations between all the officials, not sure there is anything in the rule book to cover this scenario !
This is highly unusual, the game is stopped by referee Paul McLoughlin because of the presence of a 'drone' hovering over the pitch . Mark Scanlon from the FAI is in attendance and is called pitchside.
Better start by Drogheda , they have just won an corner but are unable to capitalise on it and the ball is cleared
Yellow Card
SECOND HALF
Substitution
Substitution
A very dominant performance by St Patrick's Athletic, ever time they to go on the attack they look likely to score and could easily be further ahead at half time.
In contrast Drogheda seem very shaky at the back and also devoid of ideas up front, particularly since Chris Lyions went off injured.
At this stage its looking like three points for the visitors , unless Kevin Doherty can work some magic at half time in the dressing room.
HALF TIME
Yellow Card
2 mins added time
Great through ball by McCormack, Doyle gets between two Drogheda defenders and slides the ball past Sam Long, another great goal by Pats.
ASSIST!
GOAL!
34 minutes gone and the Pats keeper has not had a shot to save so far, Drogheda look a bit limited up front since Lyons departed
Chris Lyons did not fully recover from that earlierinjury and is forced off, Dean Williams comes in up front in his place
Substitution
Doyle feeds King again , he goes inside Poynton this time , gets a shot away but it lacks power and is easily gathered by Sam Long.

Ben McCormack is fouled, free to Pats outside the box
Chris Lyons is down injured for Drogheda but looks like he is ok to continue
Its all Pats so far, they are playing with a lot of confidence after that early goal
Perfect start for Pats, Eoin Doyle plays Billy King down the left wing, he gets past Georgie Poynton and dinks the ball to the far post where Darragh Burns heads it home.

GAME ON!
10 mins to kick here at a bright and sunny Drogheda with the pitch surface looking to be in very good condition.
Despite last weekend's 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Derry City, manager Tim Clancy gives a vote of confidence to the same starting eleven for tonights match.
The home team shows two changes from the team that started the 4-1 defeat away to Dundalk last weekend. Ryan Brennan and Dylan Grimes come in for Keith Cowan and Darragh Nugent.
Good evening and welcome to Head in the Game Park in Drogheda for tonights Premier Division match between Drogheda Utd and St Patricks Athletic.
I'm Patrick O' Connor and i'll be bringing you live updates on tonights match.
