Live Updates for Bohemians -v- St. Patrick's Athletic

132'

What drama!

Robbie Benson's spot kick wins the FAI Cup for The Saints, their first since 2014.

Bohs went ahead in the shootout after Talbot denied Forrester's penalty, but misses from Wilson and Ward gave Benson the chance to win it.

The result also means that Derry City will play in the Europa Conference League next season.

Stay tuned for our match report and pieces from the post-match press conferences.

Thanks for joining me for this evening's FAI Cup final. You can find me on twitter at @SeanOCSport.

Take care!

SECOND HALF

The second half between Bohemians and St. Patrick's Athletic has started.

45' + 1'

45' + 1'

Scoreless here at half time in the FAI Cup final.

St.Pat's began the half much the better side, enjoying the lions share of the possession and the best chance of the half.

A give and go between Benson and Lennon put Lennon one on one with Talbot, and the Bohs shotstopper did brillaintly to tip the ball around the post.

Bohs came into the game better after the half hour mark. Burt and Tierney have had efforts on goal, but Barrett and Desmond have done well to keep Georgie Kelly quiet so far.

The athmosphere has been terrific too. The Aviva was covered in smoke for the opening ten minutes, with both sets of fans waving banners and flares to add to the occasion. I'll have the offical attandance for you as soon as we hear. I've a feeling it could break the all time record!

37'

What a chance for St.Pat's

Benson flicks onto Jamie Lennon, who's driving effort is tipped around the post by Talbot.

Best chance of the game so far.

34'

Bohs enjoying a good spell at the moment, after Pat's enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening half an hour.

33'

Wilson's cross is cleared but Bohs do win a corner in front of the Pat's faithful.

32'

Burt in the thick of it again, and wins a free kick in a good position.

Good effort by Burt from outside the area, but it's no trouble for Jaros.

Georgie Kelly's effort a minute after goes wide from a tight angle.

19'

First chance for St. Pat's, Darragh Burns is played through but Talbot does well to come off his line.

St. Pat's the more comfertable side so far.

16'

Burt tries to slot in Georgie Kelly but Paddy Barrett does well to intercept

12'

Liam Burt goes down and wins a free kick.

Bohs playing a 4-2-3-1

8'

Decent start for both sides.

Chris Forrester appears to be playing as a false nine.

6'

Ross Tierney has the first chance of the game, but his effort is to the right and wide

1'

GAME ON!

The game between Bohemians and St. Patrick's Athletic has kicked off.

0'

The Saints’ cup run in 2021 began with a 6-0 thrashing of Bray Wanderers, with Billy King bagging a double. Next up came a trip down to Cork City, who they beat on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

In the quarter final, goals from Darragh Burns and Ronan Coughlan helped St. Pat’s see off Wexford FC 3-0. Dundalk arrived in Inchicore for last month’s semi-final but left disappointed as a late Burns strike sealed a 3-1 win in front of a sold-out Richmond Park.

The teams are due out any minute now.

The athmosphere is something else here.

Bohs cup run to this year’s final began in July with a 5-0 thumping over College Corinthians. Round two featured a dramatic Dublin derby against Shamrock Rovers at Dalymount Park. Roberto Lopes’ 80th minute strike cancelled out Ali Coote’s opener. Georgie Kelly and Ronan Finn both saw red before a terrific Andy Lyons effort sent the Gypsies into the quarter final.

The Dublin 7 side booked a semi-final spot with a 4-0 win over ten man Maynooth University Town in September. Last month’s semi-final was as dramatic as they come. After missing a first half penalty, Georgie Kelly redeemed himself with an 89th minute winner as Marc Bircham’s Waterford finished with nine men.

0'

One advantage Bohs may have over their opponents is their familiarity with the Aviva Stadium. Their Europa Conference League run in the summer saw them win three from three at the Dublin 4 venue, on a combined score line of 8-1.

Today's final is a record breaker for a cup final at the Aviva Stadium.

As of this morning, 39,000 tickets were sold, smashing the 2010 record of 36,101!

Could we see the all time record of 41,238 (1945) broken?
