Ian Ryan’s Wexford will be hoping to build on some promising recent performances as they get set to host Cabinteely in the FAI Cup on Friday evening.
The Slaneysiders have impressed in recent weeks despite not picking up wins, but all the indications suggest that they are continuing to improve under new boss Ryan.
And they almost picked up a major scalp last time out at home to Cork City, but they were unbale to break down the ten-men of City.
It was a result that ensure they only lost once in their last three games, and they will be eying just their second win of the season against Cabo.
They won the last game between the side’s 2-0, with Kyle Robinson and Jack Doherty both netting for the Slaneysiders at Stradbrook.
In terms of team news for this game, however, Thomas Considine, Lorcan Fitzgerald and Cian Kelly are all doubts. Paul Fox is suspended.
Cabinteely will be eyeing a return to winning ways this weekend as they get set to travel down the N11 to take on Wexford at Ferrycarrig Park.
The Green and White’s have struggled in recent weeks, with their last win coming away to Cork City over a month ago.
But they will be hoping for some respite in the cup having not lost away to Wexford in over five games. But their manager Pat Devlin is expecting a stiff test in the South-East.
“It would be lovely to get a little run in the FAI Cup. But it’s a challenge. Ian (Ryan) has done a great job at Wexford since he took over,” said Cabinteely boss Pat Devlin.
He added “And even before he took over, we’ve always had it difficult against Wexford. It is like a local derby. We are looking forward to the game. Hopefully, we can get the right result.”
Cabinteely’s Kevin Knight is expected to be the Green and White’s sole absentee for this evening’s game.
Referee: Oliver Moran.
Cabinteely have lost their last five games in a row, although, they have only lost each game by a solitary goal as they remain just outside of the playoff positions.
Wexford, meanwhile, are winless in their last six games since winning 2-0 Cabinteely just before the mid-season break.
Cabinteely have won four of their last five games at Ferrycarrig Park, and drew the other game 0-0 last season.
Wexford 13/8; Draw 12/5; Cabinteely 13/10.
Wexford 1 - 2 Cabinteely
Doubtful: Thomas Considine, Cian Kelly, Lorcan Fitzgerald.
