Another save from MCCarthy just now as Foley misplaced a pass in the box giving the ball to Kearns. The goalkeeper reacted quickly to smother the shot. It's almost as if the goalkeepers on both ends have conspired to make sure there are no more goals in this game!
Kate Slevin (Galway WFC) misses from the penalty spot. Tough break for the teenager after Eabha O'Mahony took Lynsey McKey down in the box. The midfielder couldn't find the target frmo the penalty spot.
Egbuloniu just had another good effort on goal. Zajc managed to pull off another excellent save to punch the ball behind.
McCarthy just pulled off two great saves to stop Galway in their tracks. Kearns had another effort before McKey had a crack right in front of goal after the defleciton fell to her. But McCarthy managed to react quick enough to finger tip the ball over the bar.
Kearns is gunning for that fourth goal! She just had another effort on target from a Shauna Brennan corner! McCarthy was able to clutch the ball into her chest however.
Zajc just made up for her earlier error with a great save after Dring was one on one with the Slovenian. SHe got just enough of a touch to the shot to turn it behind.
Good effot by Chloe SIngleton just now. She fancied her chances from range, but her shout from outside the box curled jsut wide of the goal.
Thankfully it's half time. That was a frantic first half for both sides, lots to talk about and very entertaining to watch. Exhausting when you have to update however! There may be a few more goals in this one!

Okay... so a lot has happened in the last gew minutes. O'Mahony pulled another goal back for Cork after some questionable goalkeeping from Zajc in the Galway goal. But almost from tipoff Rachel Kearns sealed her hatrick with a stunning goal which will deserve a re-watch when the highlights come out!
It's all go in the press box as these goals are flying in! Sarah McKevitt just burned passed Savannah McCarthy to set up COrk's goal. SHe drilled the ball across the box where substitute Egbuloniu was waiting to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
It's been all Galway so far, and the scoreline reflects that. Billy Clery's side are well worth their lead at the moment.
Rachel Kearns (Galway WFC) scores. Brennan has combined with Kearns once again to get the ball in the net for Galway. The teenager pressed the Cork defence and dispossessed Lauren Singleton in the box before sliding the ball across to Kearns who just had to tap the ball into the goal.
Great goal from the home side just now. Shauna Brennan drilled the ball in from a corner kick and Keans, on her return to the WNL, headed the ball into the far corner.
We just saw the first chance scuffed here in Galway after some great work by Kate Slevin. The midfielder found the head of Lynsey McKey at the back post who gently nodded the ball down to Kearns. The forward was right in front of goal but she was off balance and dragged the shot wide of the goal mouth.
So it was Sophie Liston who was receiving treatment. Unfortunately just minutes into the game she was forced off due to injury with Lauren Egbuloniu replacing her.
The game has ground to a halt early on as a Cork palyer is down for treatment. I can't wuite make out who it is from here, but the physio has been on the field for some time.
Elsewhere in the WNL Bohemians and Treaty United played the first game of the season. That game is nearly at a close with the Gypsies currently in a 6-2 lead. Hopefully we'll see some goals here in Galway too!
Ronán Collins has started two of his new signings for Cork's first game of the season with Sarah McKevitt and Eve Mangan both getting the nod for the game this afternoon.
Billy Clery has started two new players for his side's first game of the season with Slovenian goalkeeper Maja Zajc making her debut for the club. Rachel Kearns also makes her first start for Galway having stepped away from the WNL for a period of time.
