Three minutes added
This third corner comes in and the ref blows for a free out.
Corner is taken and a glancing header from Desmond... and just over... Oh and somehow its another corner now.
The first corner turns into ... a second corner.
Gartside forced into a save and its a corner now for Pats
Nothing at all to report I'm afraid. The game is very much winding down now
The pace of the game is draining out of this one and we will be introducing more subs shortly. It's game over at this stage regarding the result.
Darragh Burns (St. Patrick's Athletic) scores. Great ball forward and the sub ran into the box and from the right fired across goal and into the left corner!
Shot from Lennon outside the box but its well wide.
Robbie Benson (St. Patrick's Athletic) scores. The ball fell to Coughlan and he kept trying to find a moment to shoot as he moved across the goal mouth but then Benson appeared and fired it low and under Gartside for the opening goal.
King twists and turns but his ball off to a colleague ends with a Derry City player and they have a rare moment to have the ball in the Pats half. AND.... they concede a free. So possession back to Pats.
It is pretty much all St Pats at the moment.
Another Pats attack, this time down the left and the ball is crossed but too deep and well its gone over the end line from Billy King.
Benson to Bermingham and he has a strike and OOOOH its over but that was a really good opportunity.
Coughlan outside the box and Matty Smith attempts a flick but ... well... it didn't work out.
Parkhouse gets a chat off the ref after screaming his anger at not getting a free kick
21 players in the Derry City half at the moment. It could be a long 45 if Derry plan on sitting back so deep.
Pats patiently passing it about as Derry sit deep.
Robbie Benson hits it and Gartside is equal to it
Pats free around 40 yards out.
One minute of added time
A number of chances for Pats but Gartside equal to them all.
Lafferty has a shot and its miles over but a shot none the less.
Derry attack and there is a tackle on the egde of the box, ref waves it away and now Pats attack. A wave of players moving forward and Forrester's ball forward is poor and the chance is gone.
Taken by Benson. Going long and out as a Pats player falls over in the box. Sam Bone it was but the ref is having none of it.
Free to Pats on the right side of the Derry City box....
Pats building up from the back again. They are slowly moving the line into the Derry half and looking for that gap.
Derry City have coped for now with the lesser numbers. They will be very much hoping to make it to the break without conceding now.
SUPERB save from Gartside from a Matty Smith shot and its a Pats corner.
OH!!! Pats into the box and crossed.. the keeper is in noman's land and the ball trickles across the goal mouth a few inches out and just bounces beyond the goalmouth with no one to finish it.
Great ball forward by Derry and a lovely run by Will Patching and he chests it and.... oh he's fallen over. That was always a lovely move.
Parkhouse counters but he takes too long on the ball and Pats win it back.
Lennon takes it and it is headed upwards by a Derry player and then the job is completed as it arrives down and is hoofed forward.
Pats have controlled possession for the last few minutes. They are passing left to right and back again. They have now won a free on the left side around 40 yards out.
Cross field ball to Billy King. Passes to Mountney who runs to the end line and fires it across. Coughlan gets a little touch but the ball bounces up and is gathered by the Derry keeper.
Matty Smith breaks down the left, and turns, shaking off two Pats defenders. He feeds to Coughlan who lays it to the centre of the box but there is no Pats player able to get onto it.
Nothing much to report in terms of action. Both teams exchanging possession in the least interesting of ways for a live updater.
Our first game of the season falling victim to COVID was announced just there with Cabo's game against Galway called off.
Throw in for Pats inside the Derry half. The ball is sent thru the centre but defended well. Pats get possession back and Forrester attempts to break down the right but his path is blocked.
Danny Lupano (Derry City) is booked. A late tackle on Matty Smith
The Pats keeper ALMOST caught with the ball but he clears it just in time before the Derry attacker could reach him
Derry probe the back line of Pats and a dangerous ball in is cleared by Benson
It's a decent evening for football, little bit of rain earlier but its sunny and not too cold at the moment.
So Pats building up from the back and as I say that Sam Bone launches a massive one up to Coughlan but he is deemed to have fouled in the opponent's box.
Derry City have played one game less than all other sides in the Premier Division due to 23 year old goalkeeper Nathan Garthside’s call up by Ian Baraclough for the Northern Ireland World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Bulgaria (this resulted in Derry’s game Shamrock Rovers being postponed ), but in the two games they have played they have failed to gain any points and sit at the bottom of the table .
As well as accumulating the 7 points, more importantly perhaps for Stephen O Donnell’s side is that four of those points came again two of last season’s more dominant teams - Shamrock Rovers (a well-deserved 1-1 draw in Tallaght Stadium) and last weekend’s 1-0 win away to Bohemians in Dalymount Park.
Hello and welcome to the clash of Pats and Derry City. Pats have had a good start to the season but Derry City are yet to pick up a point.
