This is a very determined home side. They are continuing to try push on and are not giving Shels much time on the ball.

Sheppard crosses. Ball bounces from player to player before Mark Byrne attempts to shoot but Athlone defenders throw their bodies at it and the shot is blocked

Manning picks the ball up after good pressure from Athlone and he attempts to curl it into the goal but it runs wide of the post. 

Cross into the box from Lennon and Brady is quickly out and snatches the ball from the air. 

Free is sent into the box and it loops its way into the hands of Myles.

Shelbourne are now playing into the strong breeze. 

Corner comes in and it goes out without anyone getting near it.

Ball forward for Kilduff but too long and the keeper comes out and takes. 

The referee books someone on the Athlone Town bench. No idea who. 

Dogan clatters into a Shels player but the ref waves it on. 

OFF THE LINE! Headed off the line and Athlone remain a goal to the good 

Another corner for Shels.This will be their fifth. 

Corner into the box and it whizzes through all the players in the box and out for a goal kick. 

Penalty appeals from Shels but instead they get a corner. 

Shels have had a number of crosses that has failed to get past the first defender. 

Another Shels attack ends in a free-out. 

Shels playing it around. Fernandes decides to go for a ball his tema mate was going for but he was in an offside position and the flag goes up.

The ball is sent into the box and a header on hits the upright and possibly the crossbar. Looked like it was in but the ref doesn't blow for a goal. Play continues. Shels really struggling at corners. 

Corner for Athlone Town. 

O'Hanlon feeds Rooney who crosses but the keeper takes it easily. 

Reynolds shot is blocked but good build up play with Dogan and Manning. 

Byrne with the free into the box but Scott Delaney heads clear 

Handball by Athlone and Shels have a free midway inside the Athlone half. 

Shelbourne playing the ball around but haven't found a way in. 

Fernandes crosses and the ball is controlled in the middle but the shot is blocked. That was a decent opportunity for the visitors. 

Shelbourne have now fallen behind twice in the first 20 minutes. Athlone Town will not want to  surrender their advantage as fast as the last time.

A third Shels corner and again it is not great. That's three poor deliveries. Athlone Town eventually win a free out. 

Athlone Town's pitch is an astroturf pitch with those black plastic bits. The ones you spend a week after playing finding them in your socks, shoes, hair.... 

Again the corner fails to beat the first defender and Morris will be disappointed that two corners with the wind fail to threaten.

A clearence by Athlone sees the ball go backwards such is the force of the wind. Rooney gets on the ball and shoots but the keeper is equal to it.
