Not the best set of penos we've seen from Derry anyway and so Sligo Rovers are through to Sunday's semi-final against Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght.

Ed McGinty once again out of his area to stop Derry getting in. This time he snuffs out a chance for Ibrahim Meite.

City go super close as James Akintunde lets fly from the right and it looked like the ball was going to curl into the top corner but just wide of the post.

Sligo get forward having been pegged back by Derry City in the last ten minutes. Alex Cooper from the right puts a cross in but Ronan Coughlan is too physical against his marker and it is a free out.

Junior fouls Stephen Mallon and Adam Hammill will get a chance to put another free kick into the Sligo box.

Extended period of pressure from Derry, but neither Mallon nor Ciaran Coll can pick out a man in the box and Sligo eventually work the ball clear.

Both sides looking to spread the play and make use of their width, with Sligo's Akex Cooper and Derry's Stephen Mallon particularly prominent.

Promising move for Sligo as some quick passing puts Ryan De Vries in behind but, with the angle narrowing for a shot, he tried to pick out Coughlan in the box and Derry were able to clear.

First effort on goal for Derry as Ciaran Coll's ball into the box is nudged goalwards by the head of James Akintunde, but it's an easy save for Ed McGinty, fresh off his first Ireland under-21 caps last week.

End to end stuff so far but no real openings for either side, with crosses cleared on both sides.
