Not the best set of penos we've seen from Derry anyway and so Sligo Rovers are through to Sunday's semi-final against Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght.
FULL TIME AFTER PENALTIES!
MISSED SHOOTOUT PENO!
SHOOTOUT PENALTY SCORED!
MISSED SHOOTOUT PENO!
Walter Figueira (Derry City) misses a Shootout Penalty banging it off the crossbar.
SHOOTOUT PENALTY SCORED!
MISSED SHOOTOUT PENO!
Conor McCormack (Derry City) misses a Shootout Penalty - booms it over the bar.
MISSED SHOOTOUT PENO!
Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe (Sligo Rovers) misses a Shootout Penalty. Clips the post with a slow effort.
SHOOTOUT PENALTY SCORED!
SHOOTOUT PENALTY SCORED!
Looks like Sligo will take the first spotkick.
We head to a penalty shootout now...
FULL TIME AFTER EXTRA-TIME!
One more minute before penalties...unless...
Yellow Card
Alex Cooper hits it straight into the wall.
Last chance saloon for Sligo in extratime as they have a free kick on the edge of the area.
Alex Cooper with a shot from distance. He doesn't force a save from the 'keeper.
A lot of tired bodies out on the pitch for both sides.
I thought Peter Cherrie had left a lot of space on his right and Regan Donelon almost exploits it bending the ball around the wall and forcing Cherrie to scramper and throw a hand up to claw the ball away.
Joe Thomson fouts Junior in a dangerous position. Sligo can maybe take a shot on or put into the box.
Substitution
John Mahon heads the ball about a centimetre off the ground,
Corner Kick
EXTRATIME SECOND HALF!
Darragh Noone's shot is blocked and Neil Doyle blows his half time whistle in extratime.
Corner Kick
Regan Donelon (Sligo Rovers) takes a corner-kick and Junior gets up to head down but Peter Cherrie dives down in front of him to gather. Decent chance for the BitO'Red.
Ed McGinty once again out of his area to stop Derry getting in. This time he snuffs out a chance for Ibrahim Meite.
Sligo look to break but a loose pass from sub Darragh Noone puts the ball out of play.
Ed McGinty comes to claim a punt into the Sligo box and he can't catch it cleanly. It requires a teammates boot to save his blushes.
Substitution
EXTRATIME FIRST HALF!
FULL TIME!
Peter Cherrie pulls off a great save - kept his team in this tie and in the cup.
Three more minutes
Substitution
Substitution
Substitution
Another good save by Ed McGinty - this time from sub Walter Figueira.
Substitution
Substitution
Derry City defender Cameron McJannet hits the crossbar.
Yellow Card
Last 15 minutes but we will have another 30 more if the score remains the same.
Corner Kick
City go super close as James Akintunde lets fly from the right and it looked like the ball was going to curl into the top corner but just wide of the post.
Adam Hammill can't believe he hasn't got a corner kick. I think he shanked his shot so agree with referee Neil Doyle.
We will have extra-time and penalties if required this evening.
Gerardo Bruna stikes a free kick around the wall but a fraction over the Rovers crossbar.
Substitution
Corner Kick
David Cawley (Sligo Rovers) takes a corner-kick again on the left as his last one was headed behind off a City head.
Corner Kick
David Cawley (Sligo Rovers) takes a corner-kick after Colm Horgan blocked Regan Donelon's cross.
Speculative effort from Gerardo Bruna as that free kick was cleared out of the Sligo penalty area.
Yellow Card
Garry Buckley (Sligo Rovers) is booked for taking down James Akintunde as the Derry played turned and raced goalwards.
Yellow Card
Regan Donelan races onto a Ryan De Vries pass on the left and puts the ball in to the Derry box. Ronan Coughlan flicks it on but Alex Cooper heads it wide.
Ed McGinty races off his line and out of his box to head the ball clear of James Akintunde as he looked to race onto a ball over the top.
SECOND HALF
HALF TIME
Another deep cross from Alex Cooper but it is just too deep for Junior at the back post.
The winner tonight will be play Shamrock Rovers at 2pm in Tallaght Stadium on Sunday. The losers - well - there season will end this evening.
“Maradona was an up and coming superstar then and as it turned out he was one of the best players to ever play the game," siad Buckley. “It doesn’t get any bigger than playing the world champions,” said Buckley about lining up for the League of Ireland team against Argentina. “It was a full house and the place was jammers. There was all the ticker tape stuff – it was exactly like I’d seen on the TV for the 1978 World Cup final and all of a sudden we were there playing in that stadium. It was one of the most moving moments of my career to hear our national anthem through all that noise before kick-off. It was a bunch of us lads from our league playing their national team. It was a very proud moment for all of us.”
Liam Buckley on the sideline shouting intructions to his Sligo team. Buckley played for a LOI team against Argentina in 1980 in Buenos Aires. Diego Maradona scored the only goal of the game in that match.
Corner Kick
David Cawley (Sligo Rovers) takes a corner-kick that Lewis Banks heads on. It comes to Garry Buckley at the backpost and he gets his foot over the ball but his volley is just a fraction over the crossbar.
Peter Cherrie saves the Candystripes as Ronan Coughlan gets in on goal on the left. Ball went low and Cherrie saved for a corner.
Yellow Card
Ed McGinty making a bit of a mess with a back pass but he gets himself out of jail.
Regan Donelon lucky not to get a booking there as his handball stops Derry moving towards the corner flag. Another set piece for the Candystripes. Adam Hammill over the ball and he gets under the ball sending it wide at the backpost.
Sligo get forward having been pegged back by Derry City in the last ten minutes. Alex Cooper from the right puts a cross in but Ronan Coughlan is too physical against his marker and it is a free out.
Corner Kick
Adam Hammill (Derry City) takes a corner-kick this time from the left and Ed McGinty winds up a punch to clear. Ball works its way back to Hammill wide and he cuts inside to shoot but straight at McGinty.
Corner Kick
Adam Hammill (Derry City) takes a corner-kick after he forced a save from Ed McGinty with that drilled free kick from wide.
Ronan Coughlan scored four penalties in the league this season.
Junior fouls Stephen Mallon and Adam Hammill will get a chance to put another free kick into the Sligo box.
Corner Kick
Adam Hammill (Derry City) takes a corner-kick after his free kick from wide on the right was headed behind by a Sligo defender.
Neil Doyle is the ref in charge of affairs in Sligo this evening.
Extended period of pressure from Derry, but neither Mallon nor Ciaran Coll can pick out a man in the box and Sligo eventually work the ball clear.
Both sides looking to spread the play and make use of their width, with Sligo's Akex Cooper and Derry's Stephen Mallon particularly prominent.
Promising move for Sligo as some quick passing puts Ryan De Vries in behind but, with the angle narrowing for a shot, he tried to pick out Coughlan in the box and Derry were able to clear.
First effort on goal for Derry as Ciaran Coll's ball into the box is nudged goalwards by the head of James Akintunde, but it's an easy save for Ed McGinty, fresh off his first Ireland under-21 caps last week.
End to end stuff so far but no real openings for either side, with crosses cleared on both sides.
We're underway in the last of the four FAI Cup quarter-final ties with the prize a meeting with Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght on Sunday. Sligo shooting into the Railway End for the first half.
GAME ON!
