Tim Clancy’s Drogheda United will be hoping to keep pace with table topping Bray Wanderers this evening as they host Shamrock Rovers II at United Park (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Boynesiders come into the game following an impressive win on the road away to UCD on Friday night after going behind.

Drogheda came out of the blocks flying in the second half and Mark Doyle found the bottom corner from James Brown’s cross three minutes after the break to equalise.

Doyle was to then score his second of the night shortly after as he turned home an exoert delivery into danger from Jordan Adeyemo.

Goalkeeper David Odumosu was then called upon to make a penalty save from UCD striker Yoyo Mahdy in the 83rd minute to preserve their lead.

And they would make sure of the win late on in injury time as Brandon Bermingham fired low under the body of Lorcan Healy.

However, Drogheda must go again this evening as they host Shamrock Rovers II, and keeper Odumosu is hoping that he can help his side secure another win in their pursuit of promotion.

“It’s going to be a massive game. Last six games of the season, we’re looking to get all three points in each game,” he told his club’s media team.

“They are a good side. They play a lot of good football but with being at home, it’s going to be one of them things, we need to be right from the start and for the 90 minutes,”

In team news, Luke Heeney is likely to again miss out through injury while Tim Clancy has a number of players doubtful through injury.

Chris Lyons and Jack Tuite both missed the win over UCD while Conor Kane was substituted after picking up an injury, with the trio all rated as doubtful.

Shamrock Rovers II will be hoping to land yet another blow to Drogheda United’s promotion hopes this evening when they travel to United Park.

The Young Hoops caused plenty of problems for Tim Clancy’s during the last time the side’s met at Tallaght Stadium.

Aidan Price’s young guns raced into a two-nil lead and had a man advantage following the dismissal of Mark Hughes for a straight red card.

However, they were unable to capitalise on their man advantage – as Drogheda eventually drew the game two-all.

They come into the game however after four successive defeats, with their most recent coming against Cabinteely.

Kevin Knight and Conor Keeley both scored late on for the South Dubliners as they won a tight game at Tallaght Stadium.

Shamrock Rovers II have not released any team news ahead of their trip to the Windmill Road venue this evening.

Shamrock Rovers II have lost their previous four league games on the spin, losing to Longford Town, Cobh Ramblers, Galway United and Cabinteely.

Tim Clancy’s Drogheda United have only won at home once in their previous three games at United Park.

The most recent game between the sides saw ten-man Drogheda earn a point against the young Hoops at Tallaght Stadium.
