COBH RAMBLERS

Stuart Ashton’s Cobh Ramblers will be looking to bounce back from two successive defeats with a win over Bray Wanderers on Monday evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The game will see the Rams return to St Colman’s Park for the first time since their wretched six-nil home defeat against UCD.

Ashton’s side come into the game after an equally demoralising defeat away to Athlone Town after they took the lead.

Ben O’Riordan gave the Rams the lead on the 62nd minute before the lead was wiped out by Dean George’s equaliser minutes later.

And in the 83rd minute Athlone took the lead and, in turn, grabbed a winner through Ronan Manning’s spot-kick.

The result leaves Cobh three points off the playoff positions – and they will be hoping that they may be able to capitalise on any potential slip-up by Longford Town or UCD tomorrow evening.

Cobh are expected to welcome John Kavanagh back into their starting xi tomorrow night from suspension.

They have yet to release any injury related team news at time of writing

BRAY WANDERERS

Following an impressive win over Longford Town, Gary Cronin’s Bray Wanderers will be hoping to continue their title charge when they visit Cobh Ramblers tomorrow evening.

The Seagulls comfortably swept aside Longford on Friday night, but their manager Gary Cronin is wary of the challenge that Cobh pose to his title chasers.

“It’s always a tough place to go down to St Colman’s Park and it will be no different on Monday night,” he said after Friday’s win.

“We have a good bit of form at the moment and confidence. We have a bit of belief in ourselves which is great but there’s also the realisation that we could have been on the end of results in two tight games.

“Galway are making a surge as are Cobh and then there’s Cabinteely. It’s so tight and with one bad result we could be back in fourth.

“We know that, and we need to stay focused and next week will be the same. We’re not even guaranteed playoffs yet with six games to go.

“It’s a crazy league but all we can do is look after our own games and do our best to get our own results and whatever happens elsewhere happens.”

Sean McEvoy is Bray’s only absentee for Monday evening as he serves a suspension.

Referee: Oliver Moran.
