Hammill who hit the bar at the start of the game now smashes the ball off post from just outside the box in a goal that would have put the icing on the cake.
Dobbs with a good strike that forces Cherrie to react and save well. It was straight at the Derry keeper but it is a shot on target none the less.

Mark Byrne goes chasing the ball but can't keep it in as Cherrie watches it out over the endline.
Derry stating to up it a little but as Clifford's shot goes up and away to Brady's left.
Walter Figueira (Derry City) scores. Surely it's all over for Shels now as Figueira bundles in one of the more sloppier goals you would have to say as bodies dive all around him to try and clear the cross.
YAY. Finally a chance to write about. Jack Malone with a great run down the right hand side but his cross fails to get a good enough connection from Stephen Mallon rushing in at the back post.
Declan Devine not happy on the sideline before the ref decides to change his mind and give a throw in for the home side after he appeared to give Shels a free kick. All a bit strange although not surprised the ref has fallen asleep after having to watch this.

Right I've had to go and pull ou the stat book. 36 yellow cards for Derry and no red cards makes them the best behaved team. While Shels have 3 red cards and 33 yellow cards making them the worst behaved side.
In case you're wondering about the lack of updates.....it is due to almost nothing happening. In fact it's just taken 33 seconds for a goal kick to be taken. Hopefully this one livens up or I'll have to go to plan B and start telling jokes or something.
Mark Byrne get a talking to by Derek Tomney after he is lucky to escape a booking for a challenge on Figueira after the Derry player had knocked the ball out into open space.
A flurry of Shelbourne corner eventually see's Toal smash the ball clear into the stands.
An inswinging corner from Dayle Rooney goes over the head of Daniel O'Reilly who was coming in at the back post for Shelbourne. Probably one of the Dubliners best chances so far as they seek to get back into this game.
Joe Thomson (Derry City) scores. Thompson gives Derry the lead as he comes across the box to flick beyond Jack Brady to score his first goal since his arrival from Scotland.
It seems like Derry are looking to play the ball along the ground while Shels on the other hand are content to put all their players behind the ball and invite the home side on to them.
