The ball is sent into the box and its bounced around all over the place.. a chance... no its gone and....
30 seconds to go as Derry win a free in a really good position...
Pats are now winning on yellow cards. It was 1-1 for ages but in no time at all its 3-1 on yellows to Pats.
Figueira with a bicycle kick in the box that threatens the corner flag.
There will be three more minutes added for these teams to try find a goal....
Benson takes.... and Feely leaps high but the ball is higher and it is a goal kick.
A couple minutes plus injury time remains. I can't see anyone scoring. They may lure us into thinking they could score but no. Just like now when Pats almost did but the ball is out for a corner.
Figueira with a shot outside the box but it lacks power and threat and the keeper lends down and picks the ball up.
Georgie Kelly in the box... he turns and twists and falls over and the keeper collects the ball.
Nothing to report at the moment. I'm starting to focus too much on the BRANDYWELL wording in the stand that is missing all the lower parts of the letters.
The free is taken and McClelland hits it and it goes harmlessly wide of the post. Of course it does. There will be no goals here. I am cursed.
Pats have a free for a foul on McClelland just outside the box. A real opportunity here....
Benson goes down in the box and there are shouts for a peno but the ref waves it on.
Figueira looks to be fouled but Pats get the freekick.
As is the pattern with almost all dead ball situations in this game, it is over hit (or else fails to clear the first defender) and out for a goal-kick. Wasted corner.
No, no they can't but they win a corner.
Pats have a free at the corner flag. Can they do something with this....
Pats have a corner. Benson to take it. Ball comes in and..... its too high and Derry head clear but Pats get it again and Forresters ball into the box is over hit and out for a goal-kick.
Just over 20 minutes to see if someone, anyone, can do something and get a goal in this game. Off the shin will do, or a rebound off someone's back. Something. Anything....
Derry attack but it goes for a goal kick.
Derry City have only won once at home since the League of Ireland restart, while Pats are winless in their last five games. This could have been an omen for this game alrigjht.
This is one of those games that if you didn't prepare a volley load of stats and facts as a commentator (or updater) you are going to really struggle. It is not providing a lot of interest on the pitch. I did not prepare a load of stats and facts.
This game really needs a goal or a spark.
Corner to Derry. Hammill to take. Defended but comes back to Hammill who can't do anything and the ball rolls out for a goal kick.
Forrester with a shot from outside the area but the ball keeps rising and over the bar it goes.
The referee gets involved with a block on Gerogie Kelly's pass but deflects to a Pats man so all is well. Benson crosses to Forrester in the box who is surprised to get it and can't shoot. The play remains with Pats before it peeters out to nothing.
If this remains as exciting as it is and ends in a 0-0, it will be the fourth game I've covered that ended in that scoreline. That's just cruel.
Meite gets free on goal but the flag is raised for offside.
Derry City with another corner. It is sent deep. Pats head on it before a huge booted clearence from the edge of the box.
Pats now win their first corner of the half but Derry City clear and counter. Ultimately they get 75% up the pitch before losing possession.
Straight away Derry attack, win a corner and overhit the final delivery.
Free kick to Pats...
Nothing much to report as we slowly crawl towards half time. It has not been the most interesting or exciting half of football. Hopefully something more to offer in the second half. I've only reported on 0-0's in the last month... I am starting to forget what a goal looks like.... do they exist....
mallon...Mallon...MALLON.... into the box from the right and beats a couple before his weakened shot is gathered by Clarke.
Chance for Pats. A header from a free by Georgie Kelly goes over the bar.
Cross into the box from Pats but a Derry City defender was there to hoof it clear.
This isn't the most exciting game I've watched of late. A lot of endeveour but not a lot of thrills
Forrester and Harkin come together and have a bit of handbags.
Possession lost by Pats. The visitors are not stringing an awful lot together and when they do they turn over possession very quickly.
Ball sent into the centre of the goal but its whacked clear. Derry get the ball again though and attempt an attack but Pats win it back and counter....
Again the corner is headed by a Pats player but this time out the other side for another corner.
The corner comes in and its cleared by Lennon at the front post. No wait it is being retaken.
There is plenty of endevour from Derry City at the moment but just not a lot of anything to really update on. Well just as I say that Derry City win a corner.
Ball driven into the Pats box and Akintunde swings a leg at it but he just doesn't make the contact he'd have wanted and Clarke is down to save. A real chance there.
Throw to Derry City almost at the corner flag.
Derry playing out from the back and move it well up the pitch. They are now probing for a way through the Pats defence. And after a burst forward they retreat and are playing the ball around the back line.
Cole fouls Benson on the left and Pats have a free in a dangerous position. Lennon to take. Ball comes in and it is deep and headed by a Pats player but to no trouble to the Derry goalmouth. Goal-kick awarded.
Pats attack down the right but two bites to cross are blocked and they settle for a throw in.
Confusion from a Saints corner as players fall over one another and, with the beaming sun in his eyes, Cherrie struggles to punch clear before Pats give away a goal kick.
Much better from the Saints as Robbie Benson picks out Georgie Kelly with his back to goal, and he loses his balance as he's about the shoot. Pats hang onto the ball and Billy King sees his shot deflected wide.
All the play taking place in the middle of the field as both sides cancel each other out. Harkin wins a free kick following one such turnover of possession.
Brendan Clarke brought into action for the first time as he comfortably gathers Meite's header.
Free-kick to Derry City well inside the Pats half. Mallon to take...
We will have live commentary from Oisin Langan later for UCD v Drogheda United - be sure to tune in!
Nothing to report at the moment as both teams swap possession in the middle of the pitch.
Derry City launch an attack but the through ball has too much on it and it is gone for a goal-kick.
As with all things - just as the game started my computer forced a reboot. No goals to report in the first three minutes at least!
